Palm House and Tamarindus Indica

Palm House and Tamarindus Indica

We are in Vienna for a week and today we visited the wonderful and extensive gardens at Schonbrunn Palace. In particular, we spent an hour wandering around the Palm House. This photo is of a Tamarind tree.

Tamarindus Indica is indigenous to the African tropics. It caught my eye because of its Rowan-like leaves. The tree produces a fruit pod containing a pulp that is used widely around the world as a spice.
